Frequent updates

There is nothing better that I like than to leave my computer always on, even if it is in power save mode. This enables me to keep stuff that I am reading always open, so that the next time I sit down in front of the computer, I can just carry on from where I left off. In addition, there are some heavy programs that are installed such as MS-Office, Media Player, iTunes, etc. These programs take a certain period to launch (one always wishes that launch time was much faster) and another period to get to the point where one was before. One would wonder as to why doing such a thing is not possible.
Well, for me, the sole reason would be the frequent updates that are release by Microsoft and which come with the standard warning that installing this program may require you to re-start your computer. Come on, at the very minimum, Microsoft would know whether an update definitely requires a reboot. But no, they write “may require you to re-start your computer”. The other crib is that it seems like almost every other day the updates icon shows up that there are some updates that you need to have. And of course, almost every such update requires a person to re-start the computer. One would think that a person has nothing better to do that to install updates, wait for the time for the update to install, close down all open programs, re-boot and then get all your programs back to the state where you were before you had to do the more important task of installing the very important update.
Maye it will make a good study point, what are the number of man-hours spent every year on the task of completing installation of these updates. I would speculate that this would not be a very small figure, maybe equal to the GDP of a small country.
very interesting, but I don’t agree with you
