Saddam Hussein sentenced to death

Well, the trial that most of Iraq was waiting for is over. The results are mostly as expected, with Saddam along with a couple of key people most closely involved getting sentenced to be hanged and a few others getting jail terms. The trial was mostly pronounced to be not perfect, but a trial that will qualify to be legal. The shias who were the worst sufferers under him are happy like anything, while the sunnis feel that this is another injustice after the sense of losing power. This part always make me feel a bit strange, when Saddam was in power, it was only a few sunni tribes in Tikrit who benefited, nobody else did. The rest of them would have felt the same terror as the shias did.
One cannot say that justice has not been done. Saddam was a brutal thug who used terror to keep his iron grip over his country, never hesitating to use his terror machinery on his own citizens as and when he felt the need to. Justice has been done.
