The pole shows a specific black section, and white above; the black is where the water level used to be (which means that the water level in the lake is reduced from earlier); and if the water level starts climbing on this pole, then it is a very quick indicator that the water level in the Lake is rising, including to levels that could be considered dangerous for communities living on the shore.
