View of the Bom Jesus Basilica from the grounds of the Se Cathedral

There are 2 magnificent heritage monuments in old Goa, both right next to each other. These are the Se Cathedral and the Bom Jesus Basilica, both having been finished in the 17th century and both being counted as heritage monuments. They attract a number of tourists every year, including the devout who come to pay respects to the Saint Francis Xavier, whose body is kept in a preserved state inside the Bom Jesus.
There is adequate parking nearby, and the large size of these monuments ensures that you never feel that there is too much of a crowd. One problems that we however ran into was the rain, since in one trip, it kept raining and we were not able to visit much.
