In the previous photo, the other end of the tunnel was shown but there it was not so clear as to whether this tunnel was already in use, or was being constructed. In this photo, it is still not clear whether the tunnel is in use, since there is heavy machinery on this end of the tunnel as well, which means that either the work is still happening, or the tunnel has been dug and these are vehicles that are passing through the tunnel.

A beautiful green covered hill on the shore of Lake Lucerne in Switzerland. If you look closely, you can see that there are a couple of elevated roads running parallel to the shore, with a few vehicles and buses on these elevated roads. There is also apparently a tunnel (maybe under construction) where traffic seems to be emerging from the tunnel, but there is also a way to avoid the tunnel. The beautiful green water of the lake makes up half of the photo.

The resort of Jungfrau in Switzerland has a prime attraction known as a Ice Palace, a long tunnel built inside the ice with thick ice on all sides. It can be slippery, which is why you have the metal rail on one side. It is also fairly long, as can be seen from this photo, which displays just one section of it.

Jungfrau, in Switzerland, has an Ice Tunnel, a tunnel built inside a glacier, with thick ice all around. It attracts a number of tourists, and in this photo, you can see a tourist walking in front, at a place where one tunnel intersects with another tunnel.

A photo showing the entry into the Ice Palace tunnel at the Swiss Alpine resort of Jungfrau. Here, the resort is set on a height, close to the ice and snow expected at that height, and it is there that you can find an actual tunnel cut into the ice (and where the ice is several inches thick). This makes walking inside the tunnel slippery.

These are sculptures made of ice inside the Ice Palace (ice tunnel) at the Swiss mountain resort of Jungfrau. Varied sculptures, they looked very beautiful with a greenish tinge all around (the light being greenish because of the ice all around us). I always wondered as to how they ensure that the ice remains, and if this tunnel is a part of a glacier, how can they ensure that there is no movement of the ice.

The empty ice tunnel inside the ice palace at Jungfrau. This is an ice tunnel apparently built inside a glacier in Jungfrau, and is a popular tourist attraction. I had to wait for some time to be able to get a photo where there was no one in the photo. The ice (and it was several inches thick) gives a strange light effect to the photo.

The train halting at the Eiger station in the tunnel leading to Jungfrau in Switzerland. This is the final section of the journey, and this is the 3rd train. This section is a cogwheel train, with the train passing through a tunnel built through the rock of the mountain. The area outside the tunnel is all ice and snow.

A photo inside the Ice Palace tunnel in the mountain resort of Jungfrau in Switzerland. It has a tunnel built inside the glacier, with ice all around. The place looks beautiful inside, with light getting reflected through the ice and all around. It was a bit slippery though, and there was a feeling that what happens if the glacier suddenly decides to move.
